Sheikh Rashid Lamptey is the Imam and Executive Director of the Islamic UMMAH of Fredericksburg. He holds a BA and MA in Arabic language and Islamic Studies. He received his second MA from the Hartford Seminary, Connecticut, in Islamic Studies and Muslim-Christian Relations. He also studied Clinical Pastoral Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, New York. He served as a member of the Interfaith Board in Richmond and as Imam/Executive Director of the Muslim Association of Virginia [MAV] in Manassas, VA. He has served as the Deputy Imam of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society [ADAMS] in Sterling, VA, and as a Chaplain at the VA [Veteran] Hospital in Washington, DC. He has taught Arabic Language at the Graduate School in DC, and was also an adjunct instructor at NOVA, Manassas. He has also taught Islamic History at the Fairfax Institute in Herndon, VA.
Sheikh Lamptey has delivered a number of sermons at the Pentagon and has also given talks as well as answered questions on Islam at NOVA, Annandale and several High schools in VA, Maryland and DC. In 2007 Sheikh Lamptey received the Outstanding Imam’s Award at the Pentagon where he was presented – among other things – with a USA flag flown on the Pentagon. He is currently a member of FAITH -Fredericksburg Interfaith Leaders , Interfaith Community Council and is committed to the cause of bridging the gap between people of all faiths. He staunchly believes that through persistent interfaith and outreach programs, the much needed peaceful co-existence can be attained.
Mission
The core purpose of this website is to provide detailed lectures, courses, and published material that will engage Muslims in discovering the true meaning of the Quran by sifting through and eliminating inaccuracies that have confounded them and have prevented their deeper understanding of the book of Allah.
Vision
This venue aims to be useful in assisting the believers in establishing sound judgment and hearts free of anxiety, by cultivating their faith upon the comprehensive knowledge of Islam and correct belief in Allah subhannah wa ta’ala through keeping to the objectives of the Quran, which include causing people to contemplate the pure message of the book and reminding people to reflect on their true nature and to act responsibly in submission to their Creator.
